Proper Eye Care is Key to Your Child’s Success
Healthy vision plays an important role in how children learn, grow, and experience the world around them. Because many vision concerns develop gradually, children may not always realize something is wrong or know how to explain what they are experiencing.
At Warman Eyecare, we take a thoughtful and supportive approach to pediatric eye care, helping children feel comfortable while we assess their vision and eye health. Early detection can make a meaningful difference in supporting your child’s development, confidence, and success both inside and outside the classroom.
We are also proud to offer direct billing and Saskatchewan Health coverage for annual eye exams for children under 18. Contact us to schedule your child’s next eye exam today.
Pediatric Eye Exams
Designed Around Your Child
Children experience eye exams differently than adults, which is why we tailor each visit to your child’s age, comfort level, and needs.
During the exam, we assess:
- Eye coordination
- Visual acuity
- Eye health
- Prescription changes
- Overall visual development
Our goal is to make the experience feel welcoming, engaging, and easy for both children and parents.

When Should Children Have Eye Exams?
The Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends that children have their first eye exam at around 6 months of age, followed by additional exams at age 3 and again between ages 5 and 6.
After that, school-aged children should generally have annual eye exams, although more frequent visits may be recommended depending on their vision needs. If you ever notice signs such as squinting, headaches, trouble focusing, or difficulty in school, it is a good idea to schedule an eye exam sooner.
Supporting Your Child’s Vision Development
Vision involves more than just seeing clearly. It also includes how the eyes and brain work together to process and understand visual information.
Some children may experience concerns related to eye coordination or visual processing, which can impact reading, learning, attention, and everyday activities.
Vision therapy uses guided exercises and activities to help strengthen the connection between the eyes and the brain. It may help support children experiencing concerns such as amblyopia (lazy eye) or other visual development challenges.
Our team can help determine whether vision therapy may be appropriate for your child and guide you through the next steps.
Some vision concerns may require additional care from a pediatric specialist or surgeon. When needed, we work closely with trusted pediatric eye care professionals to help your child receive the support they need.
Early intervention can make an important difference, so if you have concerns about your child’s vision or eye health, we encourage you to book an appointment.

Supporting Healthy Vision at Every Stage
Children rely on their vision every day for learning, play, communication, and development. Regular eye exams help to make sure they have the visual support they need as they grow and to identify concerns early, often before symptoms become obvious.
If you have questions about your child’s vision or have noticed changes in how they see or learn, we encourage you to book an appointment with our team.
