Dr. Laforge
Optometrist
Dr. Phil Laforge believes that great eye care begins with listening to patients and finding solutions that improve their quality of life. While he jokingly describes himself as “the kind of person who feels uncomfortable putting their personality description on a website bio,” his dedication to patients and colleagues is evident in every aspect of his work.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of Saskatchewan before completing his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 2013. During his training, he completed an ocular disease externship at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Hospital and participated in volunteer eye care initiatives throughout Central America, Africa, and India.
Dr. Laforge enjoys practicing full scope optometry with a special interest in specialty contact lenses. Outside the clinic, he spends time with his family and enjoys sports, skiing, canoeing, travel, fitness, volunteering, and exploring remote and backcountry destinations.

Dr. Prestupa
Dr. Laura Prestupa (née Holinaty) believes that exceptional eye care begins with trust, compassion, and meaningful relationships. She is known for her warm, approachable nature and is committed to creating a welcoming environment where every patient feels respected, comfortable, and genuinely cared for.
Dr. Prestupa graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo’s Doctor of Optometry program in 2011, where she received both the L. M. Newell Clinic Optometry Prize and the A. W. Cole Award for Clinic Excellence. She also completed an ocular disease externship in Pinellas Park, Florida.
Her professional interests include primary eye care, pediatric eye care, and myopia management. She finds the greatest fulfillment in caring for families throughout every stage of life, from a child’s first eye exam through adulthood and into their senior years, helping patients navigate their changing vision needs along the way.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Prestupa enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children and can often be found cheering them on at their many sports and activities.

Dr. Kirkpatrick
Optometrist
Dr. Lisa Kirkpatrick is passionate about creating positive eye care experiences for patients of all ages. Known for her kind, caring, and consistent approach, she especially enjoys helping children feel comfortable and confident during their first eye exams while supporting families throughout their vision care journey.
She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology, both with honours, from the University of Saskatchewan before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree with honours at the University of Waterloo in 2013.
During optometry school, Dr. Kirkpatrick travelled to Ecuador to provide eye exams and donated glasses to individuals who otherwise had limited access to vision care. Today, she enjoys practicing full scope optometry, with a special interest in children’s vision and helping patients better understand their eye health.
Outside the office, Dr. Kirkpatrick enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, as well as exploring her creative side through arts and crafts.

Dr. Witzel
Optometrist
Dr. Jess Witzel enjoys the variety that optometry brings, from routine eye exams to urgent eye care, and values the opportunity to build lasting relationships with the patients and families she serves. Warm, friendly, and known for her sense of humour, she believes that a welcoming atmosphere can make every visit a positive experience.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology with honours from the University of Saskatchewan before graduating with honours as Valedictorian from the University of Waterloo’s Doctor of Optometry program in 2013. During her training, she completed an ocular disease externship in Bethesda, Maryland, along with a primary care rotation in Kitchener-Waterloo that emphasized collaborative, interdisciplinary patient care.
Dr. Witzel enjoys all aspects of optometry, particularly the balance of comprehensive eye care and managing eye emergencies. She finds the greatest fulfillment in getting to know patients over the years and sharing plenty of laughs with both patients and coworkers.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Witzel enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters, travelling whenever she can, and indulging her love of coffee and cats.

Dr. Gerwing
Optometrist
Dr. Amy Gerwing is committed to providing compassionate, relationship-focused eye care that helps patients feel heard, understood, and confident in their vision. Warm, thoughtful, and people-oriented, she enjoys getting to know her patients while helping them achieve healthier eyes and clearer sight.
She earned her Bachelor of Science with a double major in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Saskatchewan before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2023. During her training, she served as both an academic coach and tutor while completing externships at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Las Vegas, a rural ocular disease practice in Illinois, and a dry eye and vision therapy-focused clinic in Vancouver.
Dr. Gerwing has a special interest in dry eye management and has received training in laser and minor surgical procedures. She finds the greatest fulfillment in building meaningful connections with patients and improving their quality of life through better vision and eye health.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Gerwing enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, reading, playing the piano, and creating art.

Dr. Harris
Optometrist
Dr. Harris was born and raised in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Saskatchewan for her undergraduate studies, then enrolled in the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Harris graduated in 2019 with honours and received the Academic Excellence in Ocular Pharmacology Award.
Dr. Harris is excited to be providing eye care in Saskatoon with Luminus Vision Group! She enjoys full-scope optometry and is especially interested in helping each child achieve the best possible vision.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 young sons, being at the lake, sketching, and painting.

Dr. Sharback
Optometrist
Dr. Scharback was born and raised in Saskatoon. She attended the University of Saskatchewan, where she studied Microbiology and Immunology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2012. In 2016, she was awarded her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo, graduating with honours.
During her final year of training, Dr. Scharback travelled to Kingston, Jamaica, to intern with the Foundation for International Self-Help (F.I.S.H.) Medical Clinic to provide eye care to those in need.
Dr. Scharback enjoys practicing full-scope optometry and is excited to return home to provide eye care to you and your family.
